Perfect Podcasting

MC 490 - Class Number: 12422

Description:

"Perfect Podcasting" focuses on the history, form, and functions of podcasting as a mass communication tool that is increasingly replacing broadcast radio as America’s audio delivery system of choice. Nonfictional and fictional narratives, spoken word content, public service, current events-based reports, music, and a variety of “chum casts”—just a few of podcasting’s ever-developing art forms—will be unpacked, demonstrated, and practiced. Special attention will be paid to podcasting’s presentational conventions which will improve the effectiveness of both rookie and veteran podcasters, a conversation which will include the technical necessities of producing a podcast outside of a radio/audio studio. Finally, with approximately 800,000 podcasts available to the mass market, the podcasting course will outline the possibilities of monetizing a podcast, or at very least, creating a podcast that will add value to a business, an institution, a hobby, a cause, etc.
