Aesthetic Experience and Interpretive Understanding General Education

Description:

A basic introduction to music. Overview of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classic, Romantic and Twentieth Century stylistic periods; elements of music (melody, rhythm, harmony, form, timbre); and instrument recognition. The focus of the class is on developing listening skills and learning to write brief papers using the new language that has been acquired. Limited to nonmusic majors.
