Global Issues and Perspectives Social Sciences

Description:

This course introduces undergraduates from a variety of disciplines to some of the major urban areas in the world, how and why they developed, what makes them unique, what it might be like to live there, and what issues they may face in achieving a sustainable future. This course gives students a way of thinking about cities in a global context that highlights both their differences and their similarities. Through lectures, text and other multi-media formats, students explore some of the main opportunities and challenges facing the inhabitants of large cities in today’s world.

  • Students majoring in Regional & Community Planning or Real Estate & Community Development, and/or those taking for Honors credit must enroll in the on-campus section.
