Aesthetic Experience and Interpretive Understanding Historical Perspectives


Explores music composed by women. Features western art music from the traditional stylistic periods, women’s contributions to jazz, popular, and some world music. Examines women’s roles as performers and patrons, and attitudes toward female musicians.
